Francie has a bad toothache but she refuses to see the dentist until her father threatens to give her to the basket women if she doesn't go. But Francie escapes from the dentist's office and on a train she meets three Mi'kmaq women with beautiful baskets - the basket women. Francie is very scared but the women help her with her toothache and she learns that the stories about them are not true.
